Prosthodontist & implantologist-led · Save-first philosophy · Two clinics in Coimbatore
Restorative dentistry gives you back what a damaged or missing tooth took away — the ability to chew on both sides, speak clearly, and smile without covering your mouth. Whether a tooth is decayed, broken, worn down or gone entirely, there is a proven way to repair or replace it: fillings, root canal treatment and crowns to save teeth; implants, bridges and dentures to replace them. At Arasu Dental Care this work sits with a genuinely specialist team — a prosthodontist and certified implantologist with 12+ years' experience, a periodontist and oral implantologist working across gum care and implants, and a general dentistry team with over a thousand root canals behind it.

Repair or Replace

Do You Need It?
You are far from alone if you need it: a systematic review across 16 Indian studies and more than 27,000 adults found that roughly 35% have lost one or more teeth — with tooth decay, not age, the cause in the overwhelming majority of cases. Restorative treatment is the right step if any of these sound familiar:
Everything that follows comes down to one decision, made tooth by tooth: can this tooth be saved, or does it need to be replaced? Saving your natural tooth is almost always the first choice when it is genuinely saveable — nothing we make is better than a healthy natural root.
Saving A Tooth
How we repair a tooth depends on how deep the damage goes. The ladder runs from the smallest treatment upward — we always start at the lowest rung that genuinely solves the problem.

For cavities and small chips. Decay is removed and the tooth rebuilt with composite matched to your enamel — usually in a single visit. Details on our dental fillings page.

When decay or a crack reaches the nerve, the infected tissue is removed, the canals cleaned and sealed, and the tooth kept in your mouth doing its job. Our endodontist has performed over 1,000 of these procedures. See root canal treatment.

When too much tooth is lost for a filling to hold, a crown covers and protects what remains — routinely after a root canal on a back tooth. Zirconia, ceramic, metal and PFM options are compared on our dental crowns page.
Replacing Teeth
For a gap — one tooth, several, or a full arch — there are three proven routes. Each has a legitimate place; which one fits depends on your bone, your gums, the neighbouring teeth, your budget and your priorities. When it is not saveable, replacing it properly matters more than most people realise — the gap itself causes damage.
| Dental implant | Dental bridge | Denture | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | Titanium root in the jawbone + crown on top | Replacement tooth anchored to trimmed neighbouring teeth | Removable plate carrying one or more teeth |
| Neighbouring teeth | Untouched | Two healthy teeth trimmed for crowns | Untouched |
| Jawbone | Preserved — the root keeps bone stimulated | Bone under the gap still shrinks | Bone continues to shrink |
| Feel & chewing | Closest to a natural tooth | Fixed and stable | Takes adaptation; less chewing force |
| Typical lifespan* | 90%+ still in function at 10 years, with good care | Commonly 7–15 years | Usually relined/remade every 5–8 years |
| Relative cost | Highest upfront | Mid-range | Most affordable |
*Lifespan and survival figures are typical and drawn from published clinical research (e.g. a systematic review of 16 Indian studies, 27,324 participants, on tooth loss; established implantology literature on 10-year survival). Individual results vary with your case, care and bite.
The Process
Every restorative case starts the same way — and because we are a multispecialty clinic, the whole sequence happens in one place, with one team accountable for the end result.
A full examination with X-rays or scans, so decisions rest on what is actually happening under the gum line — not on what a tooth looks like from above.
We map every problem tooth, tell you which are saveable, and give you a written plan with the sequence and the cost of each stage — including the honest, cheaper comparison where several routes are possible.
Extraction if a tooth can't be saved, the gum treatment that must be healthy before an implant, the root canal, the crown, the implant surgery and the final prosthesis — no referrals across town between stages.
Each stage is priced separately, so you can spread treatment over time if you prefer. EMI options are available.
Honest Considerations
Gum disease must be treated first, and adequate bone confirmed on a scan. Where bone has shrunk, grafting or basal implants can still make it possible — but that is established case by case, not promised on a website.
Trimming the neighbours is irreversible. Worth it in the right case, wasteful in the wrong one — we will tell you honestly which yours is.
Even excellent dentures need an adaptation period for speech and chewing, and periodic relines as the jaw changes shape underneath them.
Crowns, bridges, implants and dentures all last dramatically longer with good daily hygiene and check-ups — and all can fail without it. Implants can develop gum problems just as teeth can.
A filling is one visit; a crown typically two; an implant runs 3–6 months from placement to final crown because the bone must fuse to it. We give you your timeline in writing, and results vary from person to person.
Cost
Costs span a wide range because the treatments do — from a single filling to a full-mouth rehabilitation. What shapes your figure: which treatment (and material — zirconia vs metal, for instance), how many teeth are involved, whether preparatory work like gum treatment or grafting is needed, and the type of prosthesis for full-arch cases. Typical ranges at Arasu:
| Treatment | Typical range at Arasu | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Root canal treatment | ₹5,000 – ₹7,000 | Per tooth; wisdom teeth to ₹7,000 |
| Crowns (metal / PFM) | ₹4,500 – ₹6,500 | Per tooth |
| Crowns (zirconia) | ₹8,000 – ₹25,000 | Premium aesthetic zirconia from ₹15,000 |
| Single dental implant | From ₹35,000 | Incl. implant + crown — confirmed case by case |
| Full-mouth / All-on-4 | ₹1.3L – ₹3.0L | Depends on system and arch |
Every plan comes as a written, staged quote with each stage priced separately — so you can spread treatment over time if you prefer. EMI options are available, and for the detailed breakdowns see our dental crown cost guide.

Honest, staged plan for my implant — they explained exactly what could be saved and what couldn't before starting.
Had a full-arch rehabilitation done here. Dr. Ashwin and the team were thorough and reassuring throughout.
My old crown was replaced with zirconia — comfortable, natural-looking and clearly priced up front.
Root canal was painless and the cost was fair compared to other clinics. Genuinely recommend.

FAQs
For a single gap with healthy bone, an implant is usually the strongest long-term answer — it replaces the root and protects the jawbone. A bridge makes sense when the neighbouring teeth already need crowns; dentures suit multiple missing teeth on a budget. The honest answer needs an examination and a scan, and we give it to you with the trade-offs spelled out.
No — and knowing the difference is the skill. A tooth with a sound root and enough structure can usually be rebuilt with a filling, root canal or crown. A tooth that is fractured below the gum line, or too decayed to hold a restoration, is better replaced. We tell you the prognosis honestly before treating.
The gap does quiet damage over time: neighbouring teeth drift and tilt into it, the opposing tooth over-erupts, chewing shifts and strains other teeth, and the jawbone under the gap shrinks — which can make replacement harder later. Replacing sooner is almost always simpler than replacing later.
With good hygiene and regular check-ups: research suggests over 90% of implants are still in function at 10 years; bridges commonly last 7–15 years; crowns similar; dentures usually need relining or remaking every 5–8 years. Results vary with your care and your bite.
Treatment is performed under appropriate local anaesthesia, so you should feel pressure rather than pain. Some tenderness for a few days after surgical procedures like implant placement is normal and manageable.
At Arasu, a single implant starts from ₹35,000 including the crown, with the exact figure confirmed after a scan. Bridges and dentures cost less upfront. Every option is quoted in writing with EMI available — see the cost guide.
It depends on the site and your bone. Sometimes an implant can be placed at or soon after extraction; more often we allow 2–3 months of healing first. Bridges and dentures typically wait 4–8 weeks for the gum to settle. Your written plan includes the timing.
Not necessarily. Bone grafting can rebuild lost bone, and basal implants — a specific expertise of our prosthodontic team — anchor in denser bone that ordinary implants don't use. Whether either suits you is established from a scan, not assumed.
