At Arasu, a simple extraction starts from ₹800, a firm molar or broken-down tooth runs ₹1,500–₹3,000, and a surgical or impacted wisdom tooth removal goes up to about ₹8,000 per tooth — and you get a clear, written estimate after we examine you and take an X-ray.

Full breakdown

What goes into the price of an extraction

An extraction fee mostly tracks how the tooth is sitting and whether it lifts out in one piece or needs a small surgery — a loose front tooth costs far less than an impacted wisdom tooth. Typical totals by case:

Extraction typeSimple / straightforwardComplex / surgicalTypical total
Front / erupted tooth₹800 – ₹1,200₹1,500 – ₹2,500₹800 – ₹2,500
Molar / broken-down tooth₹1,500 – ₹2,500₹3,000 – ₹5,000₹1,500 – ₹5,000
Wisdom tooth₹1,500 – ₹3,000₹5,000 – ₹8,000₹1,500 – ₹8,000
Add-ons (sutures, medication)₹200 – ₹500₹500 – ₹1,500₹200 – ₹1,500

If a back tooth is removed and you want to close the gap, replacing it — most often with a dental implant, sometimes a bridge — is a separate treatment quoted on its own. Where an implant is planned, a small bone graft or socket preservation (₹5,000–₹15,000) may be done at the same visit; we tell you up front if that is likely. You get a written, itemised estimate so you know exactly what is included before anything starts.

Totals shown are typical per-tooth ranges by how the tooth is sitting; a general dentist handles straightforward extractions while our oral surgeon manages surgical and impacted cases. EMI options are available.

Cost-affecting factors

Why the price of an extraction varies

Two extractions rarely cost the same — here's what moves the figure for yours.

Simple vs surgical removal

A tooth fully visible above the gum lifts out quickly in a single visit; a tooth that needs the gum lifted, bone removed or sectioning is a small surgery and is priced higher.

Which tooth & its position

Single-rooted front teeth are the easiest; multi-rooted molars take longer, and impacted wisdom teeth at the back of the jaw are the most involved to remove.

Condition of the tooth

A firm, healthy root, heavy decay, or a tooth broken at the gum line changes how it is removed — a fractured or brittle tooth often needs a surgical approach.

Stitches, grafting or sedation

Sutures, a bone graft or socket preservation for a future implant, or IV sedation for anxious patients are optional add-ons, each shown separately on your estimate.

Diagnostic imaging

An IOPA X-ray or an OPG is taken to plan the removal; an impacted tooth close to a nerve may also need a CBCT scan, which is added when it is genuinely needed.

Who performs it

Straightforward extractions are done by our general dentists; complex, surgical and impacted cases are handled by our oral & maxillofacial surgeon, which is reflected in the fee.

Before treatment

Diagnostic tests & their cost

Diagnostic testTypical cost
Initial consultation₹200 – ₹500
Digital X-ray (IOPA)₹200 – ₹600
OPG / panoramic X-ray₹300 – ₹1,000
CBCT scan (impacted tooth near a nerve)₹2,000 – ₹4,000

Why these are done first

Before removing a tooth, an X-ray — and a CBCT scan where a wisdom tooth sits close to the nerve — shows the shape of the roots and how the tooth is positioned, so we plan a safe removal and give you an accurate estimate up front.

  • Whether the tooth comes out simply, or needs a surgical removal
  • How the roots sit near the nerve or sinus
  • A clear, itemised estimate before we start

FAQs

Extraction cost questions, answered

At Arasu, a simple extraction of an erupted tooth starts from about ₹800, a firm molar or broken-down tooth is ₹1,500–₹3,000, a surgical extraction is ₹3,000–₹6,000, and an impacted wisdom tooth is ₹5,000–₹8,000 per tooth. A child's milk-tooth extraction is ₹300–₹800. You get a written estimate after an examination and X-ray, with EMI available.

A simple extraction removes a tooth that is fully visible above the gum, in a single, quick visit under local anaesthesia. A surgical extraction is needed when a tooth is broken at the gum line, has curved or fused roots, or is impacted under the gum or bone — the gum is lifted, a little bone may be removed, the tooth is sometimes sectioned and the site is stitched. It takes more chair time and surgical skill, so it costs more.

An easily accessible, erupted wisdom tooth can be removed like a routine extraction for ₹1,500–₹3,000. A partially or fully impacted wisdom tooth needs a surgical removal and typically runs ₹5,000–₹8,000 per tooth, higher when it sits close to the nerve and a CBCT scan is advised. Your exact figure is confirmed after an OPG or X-ray and quoted in writing.

The tooth and surrounding area are fully numbed with local anaesthesia, so you feel pressure rather than pain during the removal. A simple extraction heals in about 3–7 days; a surgical or impacted wisdom tooth removal can involve some swelling and tenderness that peak on the second or third day and settle over one to two weeks. Following the aftercare — no straws or smoking, soft food, prescribed pain relief — keeps recovery smooth and lowers the risk of dry socket.

Yes. A back tooth is usually worth replacing to protect your bite, most often with a dental implant, and sometimes with a bridge or denture — these are separate treatments quoted on their own. Where an implant is planned, a small bone graft or socket preservation (₹5,000–₹15,000) may be done at the same visit to keep the site ready; we tell you up front if that is likely so there are no surprises.

Broken roots, heavy decay, an impacted position, closeness to a nerve or sinus, or the need for stitches, a bone graft or sedation all add chair time and skill — so the fee is higher than a straightforward front-tooth removal. Complex and impacted cases are handled by our oral and maxillofacial surgeon and quoted separately in writing, after the X-ray, before anything starts.
