Missing tooth replacement in Coimbatore

Do you need to replace a missing tooth?

The short answer for most people is yes — and sooner rather than later. A gap isn't only a cosmetic issue. When a tooth is gone, the neighbouring teeth slowly drift into the space, the tooth above or below it starts to over-erupt, and your bite shifts in ways that make chewing harder and future treatment more complicated.

The change you can't see is in the bone. The jawbone that once held your tooth root needs the pressure of chewing to stay strong. Without it, it begins to shrink:

~50%
Studies show the ridge can lose up to about half its width in the first year after a tooth is lost — with two-thirds of that happening in the first three months.
11–22%
of the bone's height can be lost in the first six months alone. The longer a gap is left, the more likely you'll need extra steps like bone grafting before certain replacements become possible.

You're likely a good candidate if:

  • You're missing one or more teeth and your remaining teeth and gums are reasonably healthy
  • You want to chew comfortably on both sides and stop avoiding certain foods
  • A gap is affecting how you speak or how you feel about your smile
  • A tooth is badly broken or decayed and needs removing first — in which case we plan the replacement at the time of extraction so the site is protected from day one
Missing a tooth for years? It's rarely "too late." We take a scan, check how much healthy bone remains, and tell you honestly what's possible — sometimes directly, sometimes after a small preparatory step.

Teeth replacement options in Coimbatore

Your options to replace a missing tooth

There are three proven ways to replace a missing tooth, and the right one depends on how many teeth are missing, the health of the bone and neighbouring teeth, how long-lasting you want the result to be, and your budget. Here's how we explain each at Arasu — with the honest trade-offs, not just the upsides.

1

Dental implants

The closest thing to a natural tooth

An implant is a small titanium post placed into the jawbone to act as a new root, with a tooth cap (crown) fixed on top. Because it anchors into the bone, it's the only option that keeps that bone stimulated and stops the shrinkage described above — and it doesn't rely on grinding down the teeth next door. In modern practice, implants show around a 96% survival rate at 10 years, which is why we recommend them where the bone and health allow. They suit single gaps, several gaps, or a full arch (with All-on-4 or implant-supported dentures).

The trade-off: they cost more up front and take a few months to fully integrate. Learn more about dental implants.

2

Dental bridge

A fixed option using the teeth next door

A bridge fills the gap with an artificial tooth held in place by caps on the healthy teeth on either side. It's fixed (you don't take it out), looks natural, and is usually faster and more affordable than an implant — often finished in two to three visits. It's a strong choice when the teeth beside the gap would benefit from crowns anyway, or when an implant isn't practical.

The honest trade-off: it means reshaping those neighbouring teeth, and it doesn't protect the bone under the gap the way an implant does. See how dental bridges work.

3

Dentures

The most accessible option, fixed or removable

Modern dentures replace several teeth or a full arch and are the most budget-friendly route, especially when many teeth are missing. Today's versions fit better and look far more natural than the ones you may remember, and they can be made removable or stabilised on implants for a more secure feel.

The trade-off: a purely removable denture is less stable than a fixed option and needs daily care. Explore removable replacement options.

Straight talk

Choosing honestly: which one is right for you?

We think the most useful thing a clinic can do here is be straight with you, because the "best" option genuinely differs from person to person:

Our honest starting points

  • If you want the most durable, natural result and have the bone for it, an implant is usually worth the extra time and cost — it stands alone and protects the bone.
  • If the teeth beside your gap are already weak or would suit crowns, a bridge can be the more practical, faster choice.
  • If several teeth are missing or budget is the priority, a denture — removable or implant-stabilised — restores function without a large upfront outlay.

A few honest points we always raise: implants need a few months to integrate, so they're not an overnight fix. Certain health factors — uncontrolled diabetes or smoking, for example — can lower implant success (research shows survival drops from about 99% to around 96% at 10 years in medically compromised patients), so we assess this openly rather than glossing over it. And no replacement lasts forever without care; each needs good cleaning and regular check-ups.

As for pain — replacement is done under proper local anaesthesia, and most patients tell us it's far more comfortable than they expected. We'll always tell you if a simpler option would serve you just as well. Individual results vary from person to person.

Your replacement team

The specialists who plan your replacement

Replacing a missing tooth well is a team job — it draws on implant surgery, prosthetics and an honest treatment plan. Both are in-house across our two branches, so you get one coordinated plan instead of being sent between clinics.

FAQs

Missing teeth treatment — frequently asked questions

There are three proven options: a dental implant (a titanium root with a crown on top), a dental bridge (an artificial tooth anchored to the teeth on either side), or a denture (removable or implant-stabilised). Which is right depends on how many teeth are missing, your bone and gum health, and your budget — we help you decide at your consultation.

None is right for everyone. An implant gives the most natural, long-lasting result and protects the bone, but costs more and takes longer. A bridge is a faster, fixed, more affordable option when the neighbouring teeth are suitable. A denture is the most budget-friendly, especially when several teeth are missing. We'll recommend the one that genuinely fits your case.

The neighbouring teeth drift into the gap, the opposing tooth can over-erupt, and your bite shifts — which can make chewing harder and future treatment more complex. The jawbone under the gap also shrinks, losing up to around half its width in the first year. Replacing the tooth in good time prevents most of this.

It depends on the option. As a guide at Arasu, single implants start from around ₹35,000, bridges/tooth caps run about ₹5,000–₹25,000 per unit, and dentures are quoted after assessment. We give a written estimate before starting and offer EMI on higher-value treatment. Individual costs vary with your case and are confirmed after a clinical assessment.

Usually, yes. We take a scan to check how much healthy bone remains. If there's been significant shrinkage, a small preparatory step such as bone grafting may be needed before an implant — or a bridge or denture may be the more practical route. We'll tell you honestly what's possible.

The procedures are done under proper local anaesthesia, and most patients find them far more comfortable than expected. Any soreness afterward is usually mild and short-lived, and we guide you through aftercare. Individual experiences vary.

A bridge is often complete in two to three visits, and dentures in a few weeks. Implants take longer — a few months — because the post needs time to integrate with the bone, though you're not left with a visible gap during healing.

Yes. For several or all missing teeth we offer full-arch options including All-on-4 and implant-supported dentures, planned by our implant and prosthodontic team. We'll explain these and the costs at your consultation.
