Real prices — by method, no flat rate

Teeth Whitening Cost in Coimbatore

At Arasu Dental Care, professional teeth whitening in Coimbatore ranges from about ₹2,000 for a dentist-dispensed take-home kit to ₹15,000–₹20,000 for a laser-accelerated in-clinic session, with standard in-clinic whitening sitting in between. There is no flat rate, because what you pay depends on the method that actually suits your teeth — and every option here is planned by a dentist who checks your gums and enamel first, not applied by a salon technician. Below we break down what each option costs, what the fee includes, and what makes the price move, so you can decide before you sit in the chair.

Whitening — or bleaching, as it’s often called — is one of the simpler cosmetic treatments we do, but the price you see quoted around the city swings widely. Some of that is genuine (different methods cost different amounts); some of it is clinics quoting a headline figure with add-ons underneath. We’d rather show you the real range up front. Prices here are indicative and confirmed at your consultation, at RS Puram or Saibaba Colony, any day of the week.

The Numbers

Teeth whitening price in Coimbatore — the breakdown

Here’s what each whitening option costs at Arasu Dental Care. These are the figures we’ll walk you through at the consultation — the exact number depends on the depth of your staining and the shade change you’re after.

Whitening optionIndicative cost
Consultation & shade assessmentOral exam, gum and enamel check, and a shade match to plan the result₹300 – ₹500
Take-home whitening kitCustom-fitted trays plus professional-grade gel you use at home over 1–2 weeks₹2,000 – ₹6,000
Standard in-clinic whiteningOne dentist-applied whitening session in the chair₹5,000 – ₹10,000
Laser / LED-accelerated whiteningIn-clinic session using a light to speed and deepen the result in a single visit₹15,000 – ₹20,000
Internal (non-vital) bleachingWhitening a single darkened root-canal-treated tooth from the inside₹[Quoted after diagnosis]
Figures are indicative and confirmed at your consultation. Individual results and cost vary with the type and depth of staining, the shade change you want, and the method chosen. Whitening lightens natural tooth enamel only — it does not change the colour of crowns, veneers or fillings (more on that below).

No Surprises

What’s included in the price

When we quote you a whitening price, it covers the parts that make the result safe and predictable — not just the gel. A whitening fee at Arasu Dental Care includes:

  • The consultation and oral exam, so we can rule out decay or gum problems that whitening would aggravate.
  • A shade assessment, so you know the realistic before-and-after before you commit.
  • The whitening itself — the in-clinic session, or the custom trays and gel for a take-home kit.
  • Aftercare guidance on protecting the result and when a touch-up makes sense.
The one thing that’s sometimes separate is a professional cleaning. If your teeth are dulled mostly by surface tartar and staining, a scaling and polish can lift a shade or two on its own — and occasionally that’s all you actually need. We’ll tell you honestly at the consultation rather than sell you whitening you don’t need.

Reading The Price

Why does teeth whitening cost vary?

Two people can walk out of the same clinic having paid very different amounts for “whitening.” Here’s what moves the number:

  • Type and depth of staining. Surface (extrinsic) stains from tea, coffee, or tobacco respond well to standard whitening. Deeper (intrinsic) discolouration — from within the tooth, old trauma, or certain medications — is harder to shift and may need a stronger method or a different treatment altogether.

  • How many shades you want to move. A subtle freshen-up costs less than a dramatic multi-shade change.

  • The method. A take-home kit is the most affordable route; a laser or LED-accelerated in-clinic session costs more because it delivers a bigger change in a single visit.

  • Whether you need a cleaning first. Whitening works on clean enamel, so a scaling may be added if there’s tartar buildup.

  • One tooth or a full smile. Whitening a single dark, root-canal-treated tooth (internal bleaching) is priced differently from whitening your whole arch.

If your discolouration is intrinsic and whitening won’t reach it, we’ll say so — and talk you through veneers as the option that will, rather than charging you for a whitening that can’t deliver.

Value For Money

In-clinic vs take-home vs shop-bought

The lowest-priced option isn’t always the smartest spend, because the four routes to whiter teeth don’t deliver the same result. Here’s how they compare on what actually matters — price, speed, supervision, and how long it lasts.

OptionTypical costSpeedPlanned by a dentistHow long it holds
Laser / LED in-clinic₹15,000 – ₹20,000One visitYes~1–3 years with care
Standard in-clinic₹5,000 – ₹10,000One visitYes~1–2 years with care
Dentist take-home kit₹2,000 – ₹6,0001–2 weeksYes~1–2 years with care
Shop-bought strips / gels₹1,000 – ₹2,500Weeks, gradualNo~4–6 months
Shop-bought strips and gels are the lowest-cost way to lighten your teeth, and for very mild staining they can help a little. But they’re weaker, work slowly, and — most importantly — no one checks your gums, enamel or existing dental work first. Used on sensitive teeth or over gum recession, they can cause real discomfort. At Arasu Dental Care, whitening is planned around your teeth, which is the difference you’re paying for.

The Honest View

Is professional whitening worth the cost?

The honest answer depends on how you look at the price. Professional whitening doesn’t last forever — no whitening does — but it lasts far longer than the shop-bought route. In clinical experience and published estimates, an in-clinic result typically holds from around six months to two or three years, with most people seeing about a year before they want a touch-up. Over-the-counter whitening tends to fade in four to six months. Spread across that time, a ₹6,000–₹10,000 professional result often works out to better value than repeatedly re-buying strips that don’t hold.

What makes it last is partly you: tea, coffee, red wine, and smoking pull the shade back faster, and a yearly take-home touch-up keeps it topped up. We’ll set realistic expectations at the consultation — results vary from person to person, and we’d rather you know that than be disappointed.

One honest limit worth knowing before you pay: whitening only lightens natural enamel. It won’t change the colour of an existing crown, veneer or tooth-coloured filling — so if you whiten, any visible dental work may then look darker by comparison and need replacing to match. If your front teeth already carry crowns or veneers, smile design or new veneers may be the more sensible spend. We’ll flag this at the consultation so there are no surprises on the bill.

  • ~1 year before most people want a touch-up
  • A yearly take-home touch-up keeps ongoing cost low
  • Tea, coffee, wine & smoking pull the shade back faster
  • Whitening won’t recolour crowns, veneers or fillings

One thing we’ll always tell you upfront: teeth whitening is a cosmetic treatment, so dental insurance usually does not cover it. Where a whitening is part of a wider restorative plan, we’ll explain what may and may not be claimable rather than leaving you to find out later.

FAQs

Teeth whitening cost — your questions answered

A dentist-dispensed take-home kit, at around ₹2,000–₹6,000, is the most affordable professional option. Shop-bought strips cost less again but are weaker and fade quickly, so they’re rarely better value once you factor in re-buying them. We’ll help you choose the option that gives the result you want for the least outlay.

Laser or LED-accelerated whitening (around ₹15,000–₹20,000) uses a light to activate the gel, delivering a bigger shade change in a single in-clinic visit. You’re paying for speed and depth of result in one sitting, plus the dentist’s time and supervision throughout.

Usually not. Whitening is considered a cosmetic treatment, so most dental insurance plans don’t reimburse it. We’ll always tell you upfront where a treatment is cosmetic versus restorative so there are no surprises.

No. The price we quote covers the consultation, shade assessment, the whitening itself and aftercare guidance. The only thing occasionally added is a cleaning beforehand if there’s tartar buildup — and we’ll flag that before we start, never after.

A single darkened tooth is usually one that has had a root canal, and it’s whitened from the inside (internal or non-vital bleaching) rather than with a normal whitening session. The fee is different from a full-arch whitening; we’ll confirm it at your consultation.

Yes, upfront — whitening costs a fraction of veneers. But they do different jobs: whitening lightens natural enamel, while veneers cover the front of the tooth and can also fix shape, chips and deep stains that whitening can’t reach. For the right problem, whitening is the far more economical choice.

Most people keep their result topped up with an occasional take-home touch-up rather than repeating a full in-clinic session, which keeps ongoing cost low. We’ll set you up with a maintenance plan that fits how quickly your teeth tend to re-stain.

For mild to moderate staining, a dentist-planned take-home kit reaches a very similar result over one to two weeks — it’s the slower, gentler, more affordable route. In-clinic and laser whitening are for when you want a bigger change faster. Both are planned and supervised by our team, which is what separates them from anything you’d buy off a shelf.
