Priced per tooth — itemised, with the crown quoted as a separate line
At Arasu Dental Care, a root canal in Coimbatore costs ₹5,000 to ₹7,000 per tooth — the cost of keeping a tooth you’d otherwise lose to extraction, along with the pricier implant or bridge that usually follows it. What you pay depends mainly on which tooth is treated, how many canals it has, and whether it needs a crown afterward. Below is our clear per-tooth pricing, what moves the price, and what a root canal with a crown comes to in full — so you can plan the treatment with no surprises at the chair.
Want a firm quote for your tooth? A consultation and a single X-ray give you an exact price before anything begins. For how the treatment itself works, see our root canal treatment page.

The Numbers
Our root canal pricing is tied to the tooth being treated, not to a vague “starting from” figure. Here’s what you’ll pay at either of our Coimbatore branches for the root canal itself.
| Root canal by tooth type | Cost at Arasu (per tooth) |
|---|---|
| Front tooth (incisor / canine)Usually a single canal | ₹5,000 – ₹6,500 |
| PremolarOne or two canals | ₹5,000 – ₹6,500 |
| MolarThree or four canals | ₹5,000 – ₹6,500 |
| Wisdom toothAwkward access, variable anatomy | ₹5,500 – ₹7,000 |
Diagnostics are billed separately and only when your case needs them:
| Consultation & imaging | Cost at Arasu |
|---|---|
| ConsultationA full assessment and a written estimate | ₹300 – ₹500 |
| IOPA (single-tooth X-ray)Covers most straightforward cases | ₹200 – ₹300 |
| OPG (full-jaw X-ray)When a wider view is needed | ₹400 – ₹600 |
| CBCT scan3D imaging — complex cases only | ₹1,000 – ₹4,000 |
For most straightforward cases you’ll need only a consultation and one IOPA X-ray. An OPG or CBCT is used when the canal anatomy is complex or we’re planning a retreatment of a previously root-filled tooth. These figures sit within the wider Coimbatore market range of roughly ₹3,000–₹12,000 per tooth — that spread reflects how much tooth type and complexity move the price, which the next section explains.
Reading The Price
Two root canals rarely cost the same, and the reasons are clinical rather than arbitrary. Five things move your price:
Which tooth, and how many canals. A front tooth usually has a single canal; a premolar has one or two; a molar has three or four. More canals means more time to clean, shape and seal — which is why a molar root canal sits at the upper end of the range while a front tooth is at the lower end.
How much infection is present. A tooth caught early is quicker to treat. One with a large infection at the root tip or an abscess may need an extra visit, or medication placed inside the tooth first.
First-time treatment or a redo. Re-treating a tooth where an earlier root canal has failed takes longer — the old filling has to be removed before the canals can be re-cleaned — and is priced above a first-time root canal.
Imaging needed. A single IOPA X-ray covers most cases; complex anatomy or surgical planning may call for an OPG or a 3D CBCT scan.
The restoration afterward. A back tooth almost always needs a crown to protect it once the root canal is done; a front tooth with a small access hole can often be closed with a filling. The crown is the biggest single variable in the total — covered next.
The Full Picture
Most back teeth need a crown after a root canal, and this is the part of the bill people most often underestimate. It’s also the part that most affects how long the tooth lasts.
A root-treated tooth becomes more brittle, and the research is consistent on this: teeth restored with a crown survive roughly twice as long as those left with only a filling, and molars in particular fracture far more often without full-coverage protection. Placing the crown promptly, rather than delaying it, measurably improves the odds the tooth lasts for decades.
| Crown option (after root canal) | Cost at Arasu (per tooth) |
|---|---|
| Metal / metal-ceramic crownMost economical | Confirmed at consultation |
| PFM (porcelain-fused-to-metal)Mid-range | Confirmed at consultation |
| Zirconia crownTooth-coloured, high strength | Confirmed at consultation |
| E-max (all-ceramic) crownMost natural-looking | Confirmed at consultation |
So the full picture is simple: the root canal itself is ₹5,000–₹7,000, and the crown is a separate cost that depends on the material you choose. We’ll give you the exact combined figure at your consultation once you’ve decided on the crown — and if a crown isn’t needed, you won’t be charged for one. For more on choosing a material, see our guide to zirconia caps for teeth and our dental crown treatment options, or compare figures on our crown cost page.
The Long View
The honest comparison most people are really weighing is: pay for a root canal now, or have the tooth pulled? Extraction is cheaper on the day — but a gap rarely stays a gap. Replacing the tooth later with an implant (from around ₹35,000) or a bridge usually costs several times more than saving it, and takes months longer. Set against that, a root canal and crown is normally the more economical choice over the life of the tooth — which is why we recommend saving a tooth whenever it’s still viable.
We’ll also tell you when it isn’t worth it. If a tooth is cracked below the gum, too broken down to rebuild, or the infection has destroyed too much of its support, spending on a root canal that won’t hold is the wrong call — in those cases we’ll talk you through extraction and replacement instead.

FAQs
At Arasu Dental Care a root canal costs ₹5,000–₹7,000 per tooth, depending on the tooth and number of canals, plus a ₹300–₹500 consultation and a ₹200–₹300 X-ray. A crown, if the tooth needs one, is a separate cost. The wider Coimbatore market runs roughly ₹3,000–₹12,000 per tooth.
A molar has three or four canals to clean, shape and seal, while a front tooth usually has one. The extra time and materials put molar root canals at the upper end of our range.
Most back teeth do — a root-treated tooth is more brittle, and a crown roughly doubles how long it lasts. Some front teeth can be closed with a filling instead. We’ll tell you which your tooth needs, and the crown is quoted as a separate line so you can choose the material. Compare options on our crown cost page.
Almost always, over the life of the tooth. Extraction is cheaper on the day, but replacing the tooth with an implant (from around ₹35,000) or a bridge usually costs several times more than saving it.

Re-treating a previously root-filled tooth takes longer and is priced above a first-time root canal, because the old filling must be removed before the canals can be re-cleaned. We’ll give you the exact figure after assessing the tooth — see our root canal retreatment page.
